A Dev Diary on the Art of Snake Pass

Here's a deeper look into the slithering action-puzzle game

Sumo Digital’s new action-puzzle video game Snake Pass is coming to Nintendo Switch later this month and as the promotion rolls out, we get to know the game background and how it was developed. A few days ago, the studio shared some gameplay in the Paradise Path level, but today they go deeper with a dev diary.

In this video, Andy Ritson – Art Director – give us a first look at the design evolution of Noodle, the slithering hero of the game, and how it evolved from a regular looking snake to the friendly and colourful character we’ll embody. The art team also shares first concepts of the environment or puzzles, and what ideas they went through to get to the final levels filled with elements-based puzzles and an architecture tied to ancient civilisations.

Snake Pass will release on 28 March is US ($19.99) and 29 March in Europe (€19.99/£15.99).
