I’ve you’re old enough (or even a big oldies fan) to have ever played Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap, released back in 1989 on the SEGA Master System, then it might cheer up your day to know that french indie developer Lizardcube and publisher DotEmu are reviving the game on Nintendo Switch! This remake is simply called Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap and it’s set to release this year with lots of new content and characters. Today, we discover a new one: Wonder Girl.
Just like Wonder Boy, the anti-heroine will have the capacity to transform into many animal shapes on her journey to explore the many traps of Monster Land (Lizard, Mouse, Piranha, Lion, Hawk). And for the first time in the franchise, this remake will introduce the “Retro Feature”, giving the possibility of HD and 8-bit versions of each character to choose from. Lizardcube has released a trailer to introduce Wonder Girl, along with a character development artwork. It’s a PlayStation video but the graphics on Nintendo Switch will be exactly the same. You can check out more info on the game as well as dev diaries on the official Wonder Boy website.
