Sonic Mania delayed to summer 2017
Sonic Team needs to polish their retro-style adventure
Bad news, we’ll have to wait a little more for our next rush of Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic Team announced at SXSW Gaming that they need a little more time to polish their upcoming retro-style 2D platformer Sonic Mania. The fast-paced adventure of our beloved blue hero has been pushed back from Spring to Summer 2017.
The sad news comes from Polygon reporter Nick Robinson, who was attending the SXSW Gaming panel where Sonic Forces was announced. But this slight delay isn’t so much of a bad thing. We believe that if the Sonic Team needs a few more weeks to be sure that the experience is top notch, we shall let them do it.
And as a token of “gratitude” to not trash the place while we wait, they’ve shared a gameplay video of a new-old stage: Flying Battery Zone. Fans already know this stage from Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles but this version will be “rebuilt” with a few tweaks.
Sonic Mania is coming to Nintendo Switch sometime this Summer.
