For those of you who haven’t heard about it, “MAR10 Day” (March 10) is the day of the year dedicated to Mario and his fans. There’s pancake day, there’s May the 4th, and there’s MAR10 Day. And as usual, this year will be all about giving joy and having fun to celebrate together with the most iconic video game character, known through all generations of players and even non-players.
That’s why Nintendo has big plans. For MAR10 Day 2017, there will be laughter, there will be smiles on the faces of children, there will be joy on social networks and even in our consoles. So get ready, here’s what tomorrow’s made of:
Starlight Children’s Foundation – Nintendo Brave Gowns
Nintendo is working with Starlight Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization that brightens the lives of seriously ill children by providing hospitalized kids with entertainment, education and innovative technology. And as the first big thing to do on MAR10 Day to bring laughter and joy to all those kids, Nintendo will create new special Nintendo-themed Starlight Brave Gowns!
Kids will have the joy to dress just like characters from the Mushroom Kingdom: Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Donkey Kong and even Yoshiiiii. And as second support, Nintendo will provide a donation to Starlight Children’s Foundation to help create 2,000 gowns for the program.
Facebook MAR10 Day takeover
Fans on Facebook, rejoice! Starting 10 March (5 am PT / 1pm GMT) until 12 March (11:59 pm PT / next day 7:59 am GMT), Nintendo will offer a free Mario-themed frame for your profile photos. This unique frame will add items from the Super Mario Bros. games right on your profile!
Rewards and Deals
MAR10 Day is also a day to have fun and play video games! That’s why a lot of deals and sales will be available only during 10 March. First, Amazon will feature a selection of digital games starring Mario with 20% off. Then, My Nintendo will offer Mario-themed rewards all day, like 30% off Mario Kart 8 (Wii U) or and it’s DLC Pack 2 (Animal Crossing).
“Mario puts a smile on everyone’s face, and we wanted our activities on MAR10 Day to reflect that. Whether a longtime fan or someone new to the world of Nintendo, Mario can power up anyone’s day.” – Don James, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Operations
