The Games Developer Conference is still rolling in San Francisco and we’ve got a bit of interesting news from Nintendo representatives directly from it. Today, the info comes from Reggie Fils-Aime who as featured during Epic Games’ conference. This surprise appearance came as a pre-recorded video, praising the company’s Unreal Engine 4 and its powerful capabilities on Nintendo Switch.
“Unreal is enabling a whole new group of developers to make games for the Switch.” – Reggie Fils-Aime (Nintendo of America President)
Several Switch titles like Snake Pass, Redout, RiME and Shin Megami Tensei already use the engine, and there’s going to be a lot more to come. Nintendo clearly understands the importance of opening its platform to new engines, something the Wii U was missing. Reggie even hinted that some unannounced games using the engine are in development, but it’s for the developers to speak up when the time is right.
